My Tribute to Whitney Houston

The death of Whitney Houston has had a major impact on me. Whitney, among other great artists, is the reason why I have such a profound love for music. Her songs have uplifted me, made memories, and to just want to dance with somebody. I first learned about the news of her passing while at work when one of my colleague's started to read out loud from the AP news website that she had passed away. Everyone was in shock. Hoping and thinking it was just a rumor.

I, as others, grew up listening to Whitney Houston. Her mezzo-soprano voice has captivated everyone with her songs such as "I Will Always Love You", "Saving All My Love for You", "I Wanna Dance With Somebody", "Yes, Jesus Loves Me" and her amazing performance singing the National Anthem at the 1991 Super Bowl. I have so many favorite Whitney Houston songs, but one of my favorite gospel songs that she sung in the movie The Preacher's Wife is "I Love the Lord".

I thank her for blessing us all with her beautiful talent and for touching us all through her music. My heart goes out to Bobbi Kristina, Bobby, Cissy, and the rest of the Houston family. I leave you with the tribute from Jennifer Hudson from the Grammy's. A beautiful and heartfelt tribute to Whitney Houston.

RIP Whitney Houston.
